The US dollar went down against the major currencies in the forex trading market. This movement is triggered by the decision of Fed Reserve policymakers to buy Treasury securities. In an effort to add stimulus, they also plan on enhancing inflation expectations. These plans would affect the dollar in a negative way as these changes are expected to lead to the stock markets erasing some losses. Both Dow Jones and NASDAQ went up by 0.09% and 0.65% respectively. Closing at $1,346.70 per ounce, the price of gold declined by 0.6%. Crude oil also went down by 0.7% and ended up at $81.67 per barrel.

The euro was able to recover from its loss and gained against the dollar, followed by the weakening of the dollar as a result of the recent Fed Reserve meeting. The EUR/USD pair is still in a bullish momentum. In the end, the EUR/USD traded at a low of 1.3775 and a high of 1.3939. On the other hand, the British pound pushed through with its losses versus the dollar for 5 days. The weaker British pound is affected by the Bank of England’s declarations about the poor economic forecast. In the end, the GBP/USD traded between 1.5753 and 1.5917.

The British pound reached a six-week low against the dollar on the September 8 forex trading day. The dollar was backed by risk aversion as investors were worried about investing in currencies experiencing slow recovery. The pound is one such currency, falling into a bearish trend that may continue for days to come, because of the concern that the UK may take longer than expected to bounce back. The GBP/USD pair traded at a high of 1.5424 and a low of 1.5296.

The euro also weakened against the dollar because of the weak economic data in the Euro Zone. Investor worries prevail that the debt crisis in the Euro Zone may worsen. The EUR/USD pair traded at a high of 1.2819 and a low of 1.2677.

In the US, both the stocks and commodities markets fell. Crude oil closed at $73.8 per barrel and gold closed at $1,256.8 per ounce. The dollar posted gains against most majors.

Due to the response to the FOMC Meeting Minutes, the USD was able to go up against most forex trading majors. During the FOMC meeting, the members shared
different opinions regarding the reinvestment of FED’s profits back into treasuries. In the meeting, the members expressed that doing so might send a bad message to the investors. The CB Consumer Confidence was at 53.5, which was better than the anticipated 50. As for the Chicago PMI, it came out at 56.7, which was worse than the anticipated 57.5.

The stock market posted mixed results; NASDAQ went down by -0.28%, while Dow Jones went up by 0.05%. Crude oil traded at $71.80 per barrel, going down by more than -3%. Gold traded at almost $1,250 per ounce. The ISM Manufacturing Index is anticipated to go down from prior 55.5 to 53. The ADP Nonfarm Employment Change is anticipated to go down from 42k to 13k. As for the other majors, the GBP/USD pair exchanged at a high of 1.5472 and a low of 1.5325. The EUR/USD pair exchanged at a high of 1.2742 and a low of 1.2625.

At the end of the week, the dollar ceased to push through with its rally against the major currencies. On August 13 forex trading day, the dollar posted some mixed results versus some of the major currencies. There are disappointing economic data that came out that day like the Import Price Index, which fell to 0.2% versus the 0.4% forecast and the Initial Jobless Claims, which came out worse than the anticipated 465K at 484K. The stock markets didn’t fare any better with Dow Jones declining by -0.57% and NASDAQ tumbling by -0.83%.

The EUR/USD pair traded between 1.2780 and 1.2931. It weakened against the dollar but was able to recover after falling below the 1.28 zone. The Industrial Production Date resulted in -0.1%, worse than the anticipated 0.7%. The British pound also weakened against the dollar after trading below its support level of 1.5560. It then recovered and traded around the 1.56 zone. The GBP/USD pair traded with a low of 1.5559 and a high of 1.5712. The dollar gained against the Japanese yen, as the USD/JPY pair traded at a high of 86.17 and a low of 84.92.

Against most of the forex trading currencies, the dollar remained mostly the same, although the dollar traded with mixed results. This was due to the anxiety felt about the anticipated NFP data. As for the Initial Jobless Claims, it was worse than the expected, at 479k versus the anticipated 455k. The Unemployment Rate is anticipated to go up from 9.5% to 9.6%. The US stock markets posted negative results, with NASDAQ going down by -0.46%, and Dow Jones plummeting by -0.05%. Gold remained unchanged at $1,194.65 per ounce. Crude oil also went down a bit, but was able to trade above the $82-per-barrel rate.

Amidst strong volatility issues, the euro was able to gain a bit against the dollar. The Interest Rate remained unchanged, which is anticipated at 1%. The German Factory Orders posted better results than the expected rate, which was 3.2% versus the anticipated 1.5%. The EUR/USD exchanged at a high of 1.3235 and a low of 1.3118.

After posting losses against most of the majors for a number of consecutive days, the US dollar has gotten some help from strong economic data. On August 5th, the US dollar was supported by better than expected ADP Non-Farm Employment Change, which came out at 42k, a whopping 17k improvement over the expected 25k. Both the euro and the British pound weakened against the dollar. The EUR/USD pair traded at a high of 1.3239 and a low of 1.3130. The GBP/USD pair traded at a high of 1.5962 and a low of 1.5854. The dollar marked a new low against the Japanese yen, but was able to recover to surpass the 86 level. The USD/JPY pair traded between 85.31 and 86.37.

The British pound has strengthened against the dollar over these past weeks and has hit the highest level since February. Hampered earlier this year by uncertainty over the elections, the British pound is now starting to show impressive signs of the country’s economic recovery. In fact, the rate of recovery even urged England Deputy Governor John Gieve to advise policy makers not to purchase bonds or loosen monetary policies. Hopefully, this confidence will be reflected in investor forex trading. The GBP/USD forex pair traded at a low of 1.5861 and a high of 1.5968. It is expected that UK Services PMI and Halifax HPI are going to strengthen.

In the US, the main theme of the forex trading community right now is home sales. Pending Home Sales data failed to impress investors on the August 4 trading day. Instead of finally breaking the negative streak and posting the forecast 0.5% improvement, pending home sales came out at -2.6%. As a result, investor confidence waned and the dollar weakened against most of the majors.

The Euro has been struggling in 2010, plagued by various problems, not the least of which is the debt crisis of Greece and Portugal. Finally, however, it seems as though the euro may get out of its rut and start posting some gains to get back into prime form. July 30th marked the first day in nearly three months that the euro posted gains. Investors are showing confidence in the currency’s economic recovery. The EUR/USD forex pair traded at a low of 1.2977 and a high of 1.3107, the highest trade point in just about two years. These are definitely great signs of recovery for the euro in forex trading.

Known to many forex investors, when one currency gains, there are others that fall. To end the trading week last week, the US dollar fell against many of the major currencies. The Dow Jones weakened by 0.29% and the NASDAQ weakened by 0.57%. Jobless claims dropped from 468K to 457K. Gold strengthened to close at $1,168.4 per ounce, and crude oil gained to close at $78.3 per barrel.

Following the drop in orders for durable goods from 0.6% forecast to -0.6%, the worse than expected results left many investors unsure about the market condition. The US data led to the dollar posting some mixed results against other major forex currencies. The Japanese yen posted gains against the dollar, following the latest figures on US durable goods orders and the Federal Reserve claiming that there will be slow economic boom in some areas. The USD/JPY posted a high of 88.11 and a low of 87.25. Against the dollar, the British pound also remained nearly unchanged, as the GBP/USD pair traded between 1.5544 and 1.5638. Finally, the EUR/USD posted a low of 1.2966 and a high of 1.3042.

The stock market also weakened, as Dow Jones and NASDAQ fell by 0.38% and 1.04%, respectively. Gold closed at $1,1160.4/ounce after gaining by 0.2%, while crude oil fell by 0.7% and ended up at $77/barrel. It is expected that the Unemployment Claims will rise to 457K from 464K.
